A member of the Guntur Cyber Crime Police squad has been taken into custody for “impersonating as Telugu Desam NRI convener for defrauding several persons” while pretending to be a medical help provider.
Following a manhunt by the AP CID team, the accused, Konduri Rajesh (34), was apprehended near the Indo-Nepal border in Panitanki, Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
According to a media statement from the local police, the accused escaped to Goa, then to the Andaman Islands, and finally to Nepal via Uttar Pradesh, where he carried on with his fraudulent operations. The accused took use of social media by keeping an eye on Twitter hashtags such as #help_@naralokesh, #help_@pawankalyan, and #help_@ncbn in order to find possible victims in need of financial and medical support.
