Under Singh’s remarkable leadership, SPNI has achieved tremendous success and innovation in the entertainment industry.
Gaurav Banerjee has been named as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), effective August 26 at the latest, subject to regulatory approvals. This announcement was made on Monday.
According to a statement from the company, Banerjee takes over for NP Singh, who resigned after 25 years, and will assume the position of Non-Executive Chairman to assist with this transition until the end of the fiscal year.
“Under Singh’s remarkable leadership, SPNI has achieved tremendous success and innovation in the entertainment industry. I am excited to lead talented teams as we explore new frontiers in original programming, enhance our viewers’ experiences, drive our distribution footprint across India, and significantly boost our revenues,” said Banerjee.
Banerjee previously worked as the Business Head for Star Bharat, Kids and Infotainment, Hindi and English movies, and regional (East), as well as the Head of Content for Hindi Entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar.
Singh said he looks forward to supporting Banerjee and the talented team “as we further our impact in content creation, audience engagement, and digital media initiatives.”
A merger arrangement between SPNI and Zee Entertainment Enterprises was dissolved earlier this year.
The $10 billion merger arrangement with Zee Entertainment was dissolved in January by Sony Group, the Japanese parent company of Bangla Entertainment Pvt Ltd (BEPL) and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), now known as Culver Max Entertainment.
