Google announced on Thursday that it will include artificial intelligence (AI) in the U.S. broadcast of the Paris Olympics, joining up with NBCUniversal and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Google (GOOGL.O) Google, along with NBCUniversal and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, announced on Thursday that it will integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the U.S. broadcast of the Paris Olympics, enabling sports commentators to utilize AI to explain contests. The three organizations released a statement announcing Google as Team USA’s official search AI partner. This is the first time a digital company has collaborated with the sports nonprofit.

The announcement coincides with NBCUniversal’s modernization of its coverage of the Games, which aims to draw in people who are accustomed to seeing highlights online and others who do not watch live television. The Comcast-owned corporation, CMCSA.O, has announced the opening of a new tab media outlet. Prior to this, the company had announced plans to introduce daily recaps of the competition that would be tailored by AI and narrated by avatars of real people, such as sports broadcaster Al Michaels.
