Google, a division of Alphabet, is creating artificial intelligence technology that can perform tasks like shopping and research by taking over a web browser, according to media reports.

As per media reports that cited individuals with firsthand knowledge of the subject, Google plans to unveil the code-named Project Jarvis as early as December when its next flagship Gemini big language model is released.

OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, also wants its models to perform research by independently exploring the web with the help of a “CUA,” or computer-using agent, that may act on its discoveries.

With software that communicates directly with a user’s computer or browser, Anthropic and Google are attempting to further the agent concept, according to a study.

A request for response from the media was not immediately answered by Google.
