Government issues a serious security alert to users of Google Chrome

Critical problems with security in the Google Chrome browser have been found by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team. These bugs might allow attackers to run arbitrary code or cause a denial of service. Users are strongly advised to update to the most recent version of Chrome in order to secure their browser and protect sensitive information.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, the government’s cybersecurity protector, has released a warning about fresh security flaws found in certain Google Chrome web browser versions. Additionally, the government agency has issued advice with suggestions that users should heed in order to safeguard their sensitive information and protect security.

Numerous vulnerabilities in the desktop version of the Google Chrome browser have been found by Cert-In, who has rated their severity as “High”.The alert states that these security holes may enable attackers to launch insecure code on the targeted machine or cause a “Denial of Service” (DoS).

Heap Buffer Overflow in Skia and Type Confusion in V8 are the sources of the vulnerabilities. By submitting a carefully designed request to the targeted system, a remote attacker can take advantage of these issues.

According to the advice, the following Chrome versions are harmed:

* Google Chrome versions before 128.0.6613.113/114 for Mac

* Google Chrome versions before 128.0.6613.113 for Linux O

* Google Chrome versions before 128.0.6613.113/114 for Windows

How this security flaw can affect Google Chrome users:

The issue gives attackers the power to run any code on a system of their choice. It puts the security of the browser at risk and could provide hackers with restricted access to the system and its data. Sensitive data, like passwords, banking information, and personal information, may end up in the wrong hands as a result.

What users can do to stay safe:

In order to protect themselves from this vulnerability, CERT-In has also advised users to update to the most recent version of the Google Chrome browser. Here’s how users may update or correct things. Here’s how to upgrade your Google Chrome browser, step-by-step:

* Open Google Chrome and click on the three dots in the top-right corner.

* Go to Help and select About Chrome.

* Chrome will automatically check for updates and install the latest version.
