The cybersecurity situation in India has been depicted in a worrying light by a recent report. The “India Cyber Threat Report 2025,” which was published by Seqrite and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), reveals an astounding 369 million malware detections nationwide.
According to the research, cyberattacks against Indian people and organizations are becoming more complex and frequent. Additionally, it identifies the most common malware kinds, the areas of the nation most impacted, and the top industries most at risk from these attacks.
Key highlights of the India Cyber Threat Report 2025
India has 8.44 million malware installations, with 369.01 million malware detections, according to the India Cyber Threat Report 2025. Signature-based detection techniques account for 85.44% of all detections, while behavior-based detection makes up 14.56%.
A breakdown of malware subcategories—that is, the kinds of malware that are used to attack people and organizations—was also included in the report. Trojan horses accounted for 43.38% of all detections, followed by infectors (34.23%), worms (8.43%), and other threats, according to the report.
“The Android-based security detections reveal a concerning distribution of threats, wherein malware accounted for 42% of all detections, followed by Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) as the second most common threat at 32%. Adware comprised 26% of detections in Android devices,” the report added.
Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi are the top three locations impacted by malware assaults, according to the research, with the most frequently targeted industries being healthcare, hospitality, and BFSI.
Seqrite launches solutions to mitigate cyber attacks
In addition to the study, the business unveiled the Seqrite Malware Analysis Platform (SMAP), which is intended to give security experts comprehensive knowledge about dubious files and URLs that might elude detection by conventional means.
Seqrite Threat Intel, a real-time Cyber Defense Hub powered by Seqrite Labs, was also introduced by the firm. This platform will provide thorough threat intelligence from a variety of sources, such as Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) and open-source intelligence (OSINT).
