The third quarter of 2024 saw over 1.2 billion cyberattacks against India, a 92% increase over the previous year.
The application security vendor Indusface reported that 271 million attacks on APIs were part of the onslaught.
Application programming interfaces, or APIs for short, are a collection of guidelines that allow software programs to speak with one another.
The frequency of API attacks was 85% higher than that of website attacks.
According to the report, DDoS assaults against APIs—in which a cybercriminal overloads a server—rose by 3,000%.
