Instagram and Facebook users in Europe will have more alternatives for how to consume Meta Platforms (META.O), which will open new tab services to comply with the DMA.

Instagram and Facebook users in Europe will have more options for how they consume Meta Platforms (META.O), which will open new tab services to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), the social media firm announced on Monday.

The world’s largest social network is the latest to make modifications to comply with the DMA, following Google’s announcement of measures to comply with new EU technology standards, which may reduce revenue for some corporations.

Meta stated in a blog post that users will receive alerts in the coming weeks alerting them that they may choose whether or not to share their information between its services.

The DMA, which all big tech businesses, including Meta, must comply with by March 7, requires corporations to treat their own services and goods in the same way that competitors do.

Facebook Messenger users will be able to choose whether to link their Facebook account to their Messenger account or to maintain separate accounts for both platforms, according to the firm.

Meta noted that Instagram and Facebook users who have linked their accounts can choose to manage them separately and no longer share information between them.

Users can also decide whether to exchange data between their Facebook accounts and the platform’s gaming and marketplace services.
