Security Issues Are Raised by Unauthorised Access to Private Data on UP Government's Manav Sampada Portal

The superintendent police of the Mahatma Gandhi Police Station in Jankipuram, Lucknow, recently received a formal letter alerting him to a significant data breach involving private information on the Manav Sampada Portal of the Uttar Pradesh government. There are serious worries regarding data security because this portal, which was created to manage and keep personnel information for teachers, officials, and staff members connected to government institutions, has reportedly been accessed by unauthorized individuals.

Mr. Rajiv Kumar Mishra, Deputy Registrar at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow, was the first to bring attention to the problem. In an official email, Mr. Mishra informed the authorities that private information had been accessed without authorization. Comprehensive personal information about teaching and administrative personnel from various universities throughout the state is included in this data.

According to the letter, there may be a serious risk to the security, privacy, and secrecy of the persons concerned if such sensitive information is made public. The letter goes on to say that unauthorized users gained access to the portal and obtained personal data for no official or justifiable reason. The credibility of educational institutions and other government agencies is at risk because the breach not only violates private rights but also increases the possibility that the data may be misused for potentially destructive purposes.

The letter’s answer calls on the police to file a formal complaint and start a comprehensive investigation. It is advised to take immediate action to protect the data and guarantee that the right security procedures are put in place to stop future occurrences of this kind. In order to find the people behind this data breach, the police have also been asked to work with educational institutions and pertinent administrative agencies.

The letter, which is signed by Yashpal EO, highlights how urgent the situation is and demands immediate action to safeguard employee privacy and the legitimacy of state-run organizations. It further asks that the appropriate steps be taken to stop recurrence and that other departments be notified.

In order to protect personal data and preserve public confidence in government services, the incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced data security safeguards inside digital platforms run by the government.
