Jeegar Shah appointed by Citi as CFO for India

Shah will support Ashu Khullar, the Citi Country Officer for India and Head of Banking for the Indian Sub-Continent, with strategic financial management in this capacity as the single point of contact for financial concerns in India.

Jeegar Shah has been named Chief Financial Officer of Citi’s India business, starting June 1, the company announced on Tuesday.

According to a release, Shah will support Ashu Khullar, the Citi Country Officer for India and Head of Banking for the Indian Sub-Continent, with strategic financial management in this capacity as the single point of contact for financial concerns in India.

Shah will answer Citi’s Asia South Cluster CFO, Mui-Eng Teo.

Since February 2024, he has been the acting Chief Financial Officer for India.

With 19 years of experience, Shah has worked in finance positions involving audits, regulatory examinations, financial and regulatory reporting, and leading strategic finance projects for Citi’s businesses.

Ashu Khullar, Country Officer for India and Head of Banking for Indian Sub-Continent, Citi, said, “Jeegar’s deep knowledge of our operations in India and proven track record in financial management make him exceptionally qualified for this critical role. His appointment will provide strong financial leadership as we continue executing our strategy and delivering premium services to our clients in India.”

Jeegar graduated from the University of Mumbai with a master’s in commerce and is a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
