Jennifer Orozco appointed as the Department of Air Force's Deputy CIO

The Department of the Air Force has selected Jennifer Orozco to be its next deputy chief information officer (CIO). Orozco is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with over three decades of experience. The DAF Office of the CIO made the announcement on LinkedIn on Thursday.

In her new position, Orozco will help the CIO manage the $17 billion office budget, 20,000 employees worldwide, and the Enterprise Information Technology, Data and Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity directorates.

Orozco will supervise DAF’s information technology investment strategy, which encompasses cloud computing, digital transformation, and data management, in her capacity as deputy CIO. She is also responsible for protecting the department’s computer networks against online attacks.

Over her 28 years with the Air Force and the Department of Defense, Orozco has held a variety of positions.

She was in charge of safeguarding sensitive data, technology, and capabilities as the director of security for special program oversight and information protection prior to her appointment.

Prior to that, Orozco headed the Strategy, Readiness, and Force Development division of the Security Forces and served as division chief for security policy and oversight in the Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of Air Force.
