Joe Depa was been named by Ernest & Young as the new EY Global chief innovation officer, with immediate effect.
Depa’s appointment, according to EY, should help lead applied innovation to enhance service delivery and assist EY teams in tackling and resolving business difficulties.
EY claims that Depa is entering the company at a critical juncture, as new technologies are reshaping the sector and presenting a number of opportunities and challenges. Leading EY’s worldwide innovation strategy, Depa will supervise the integration of cutting-edge technology with business applications for both EY clients and internal use.
Depa’s experience appears to indicate a preference for AI and the advancement of game-changing technologies. As a senior managing director and global lead for data and AI at Accenture, Depa has worked to help C-suite executives and boards provide cutting-edge products and services. He has done this by enhancing user and client experiences, implementing new products and services, and increasing operational efficiency.
Depa most recently held the position of Emory University’s first chief data and AI officer, where he established a responsible AI governance program and assisted in advancing AI literacy. World Summit AI has acknowledged Depa’s efforts in the field of artificial intelligence, naming Depa one of the “Top 50 Global Leaders.”
On his new appointment as EY Global chief innovation officer, Depa said: “I’m truly excited to join an organization that is ‘all in’ on its commitment to the transformative potential of emerging technologies. I look forward to working with the EY teams and clients to help empower them to apply innovation in bold, new ways that help create value for clients through data, AI and emerging technologies to make the world a better place.”
With the newly established EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council, EY has been making significant investments in AI, blockchain technology, and quantum computing at the same time as this recent appointment.
