Kaspersky Labs, a Russian manufacturer of antivirus software, announced on Monday that it will gradually stop doing business in the US as of July 20.

The Russian anti-virus software producer Kaspersky Labs said on Monday that it will progressively cease operations in the United States as of July 20. This announcement came over a month after the Biden administration declared its intention to prohibit the company’s sales in the nation. A statement stating that “purchases are unavailable for U.S. customers” prevented users from making any purchases on Kaspersky’s website earlier in the day. Kaspersky plans to terminate all positions headquartered in the United States.

A month ago, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo declared that the cybersecurity company Kaspersky’s products will no longer be sold in the United States due to security dangers brought about by Russian influence. Citing cybersecurity threats, the government also imposed sanctions in June on senior Kaspersky leadership, including the chief operating officer, chief business development officer, chief legal officer, and chief corporate communications officer.

A source broke the initial story on the company’s intention to exit the United States. On September 29, the U.S. government will impose new limitations on the importation of Kaspersky software. These limits will prohibit the downloading of software updates, resale, and product licensing. After the limits were originally made public on June 20, Kaspersky will not be able to do any new business in the United States for 30 days.
