Shebnem Askin, EVP, Creative Production, and Head of Sony Pictures International Productions, said, “We are thrilled to be able to continue to work with Lada in his new journey as a producer. Of course, we will still be working closely with him on his slate, which includes many of the terrific projects he brought into the company; this should keep us closely connected.”

Lada Guruden Singh, who managed local production, has resigned from his position as General Manager of Sony Pictures International Productions (SPIP), India. Singh, who transitioned to producing, will stay in contact with the studio.

Lada had a major role in bringing in and growing the biggest IPs for the studio, including the film rights to “Madhubala” and the most well-known superhero IP, “Shaktimaan.” He initiated these projects in addition to Chetan Bhagat’s One Indian Girl and the remake of the Spanish film Campeones.

Lada also led Sony Pictures’ debut in Tamil in partnership with Kamal Hassan’s Raj Kamal Studios, Siva Karthikeyan, and Sai Pallavi’s “Amaran,” which is scheduled for release later this year. Lada also increased Sony Pictures’ presence in Telugu with the breakout hit “Major,” produced in association with Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment.

“I am grateful to Sony for its belief and support as I chart a new producer path, beginning with the films I set up at the studio itself. We are excited about the slate of projects we have at Sony Pictures International Productions, India,” said Lada.

“My producing role will allow me to chase clutter-breaking IPs and produce larger-than-life theatricals that cut across languages more actively. India is a treasure trove of stories spread across our culture, our myths, our folklore, and our literature. We must bring them to life on the big screen. I am thrilled at this opportunity and can’t wait to reveal the things in store.”

Over the course of his twenty-year career, Lada has occupied executive roles at Fox Star Studios, Disney India, Sony Pictures, India Today Group, and others. He graduated from Punjab University with a master’s in English literature and from the Asian College of Journalism in Chennai.
