Liu Haoling has been elevated to the positions of vice chairman, president, and chief investment officer by China Investment Corporation (CIC), which oversees a portion of China’s foreign reserves.

Liu Haoling is now the vice chairman, president, and chief investment officer of China Investment Corporation (CIC), which oversees a portion of China’s foreign reserves. After eight years of “extraordinary contributions” in terms of corporate strategy and comprehensive risk management, Ju Weimin left the state-owned corporation. He is succeeded by Liu, according to a statement released by CIC on February 28.

Prior to being promoted, Liu served as CIC’s chief risk officer. He has held this role since joining the company in 2020 after leaving New China Life Insurance, where he held the post of managing director. Prior to joining the insurance company, he held the position of deputy general manager at the Chinese sovereign wealth fund, Central Huijin Investment.

The Beijing-based CIC’s assets as of the end of 2022 were valued at US$1.24 trillion.
