Several London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) news and currency trading systems around the world experienced minor interruptions as European markets opened on Thursday.
LSEG’s Eikon and Workspace market data platforms, as well as its FXT and FXall interbank foreign exchange matching systems, have all failed to work, according to traders in India and Singapore.
Most systems were back up and running by 0700 GMT, having been down for between 30 and 45 minutes, according to market sources.
“Some clients encountered intermittent login difficulties to LSEG sites, including Workspace. The issue has been resolved, and access to all services has been restored,” stated an LSEG source.
“There was no impact on trading on the London Stock Exchange,” the statement read.
The October 19 disruption, which forced the exchange to halt trading in minor equities, was the first interruption since 2019.
The major segment of LSEG’s data and analytics unit is its flagship Workspace product, which delivers financial and real-time data and news.
LSEG, which commemorated the three-year anniversary of its transformational merger with Refinitiv in January, will publish full-year earnings on February 29.
The Refinitiv acquisition transformed the 300-year-old LSE into a corporation that generates roughly 70% of its revenue from data supply and distribution rather than share trading.
