Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, whose state produces 20% of the nation’s dry fuel, requested that central PSUs in the industry, including MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India, prioritize hiring locals. Majhi also gave the relevant authorities instructions to make sure Talcher Medical College opens as soon as possible in partnership with Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd.
Here on Wednesday, the chief minister met with Amrit Lal Meena, the coal secretary. There were also senior representatives from MCL and Neyveli Lignite Corporation, as well as PM Prasad, the chairman of Coal India.
Meena stated that Odisha contributes 20% of the nation’s coal production and stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued directives aimed at promoting the state’s development.

According to a CMO statement, backfilling and the recovery of used ore were prioritized at the meeting.
Using the corporate social responsibility fund, the chief minister also brought up the topic of local area development.
According to the announcement, the MCL has promised to provide money for the growth of the state’s sports infrastructure, tourism industry, and other industries.
Meena presided over a Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. periodic review meeting earlier in the day in Sambalpur.
As part of the ‘SAKSHAM’ project, MCL and the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities also inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
As part of their CSR program, MCL will donate 500 e-rickshaws to poor and physically challenged individuals in Odisha, enhancing their quality of life and allowing them to work with dignity. This will cost Rs 7.5 crore.
