Meta has set-up four "War Rooms" of engineers to figure out how DeepSeek managed to create an AI chatbot, R1

DeepSeek, a small Chinese AI business, poses a serious danger to Meta and is rushing to counter it. DeepSeek’s technology might be comparable to Meta’s at a far lower cost as per a report.

Meta sets war rooms

The corporation has established four “war rooms” of engineers to determine how DeepSeek was able to develop an AI chatbot, R1, according to a story by The Information. The new chatbot is far less expensive and performs on par with models like ChatGPT.

Meta’s Llama AI team is on high alert

According to the information, Mathew Oldham, head of Meta AI infrastructure, hinted that R1 would even outperform the next iteration of Meta’s Llama AI. With engineers now tasked with figuring out how DeepSeek was able to reduce the cost of training and operating its model, the discovery has put Meta’s AI team on high alert. According to The Information, Meta wants to know if those tactics may be used with Llama AI.

According to the article, two of the four teams in Meta’s war rooms are working to comprehend DeepSeek’s cost-cutting strategies. The other two teams are examining how to modify Llama’s architecture in light of DeepSeek’s approach and studying the data that DeepSeek utilized. Early in 2025 is when Llama AI is anticipated to be launched.

Since the creation of Meta’s Gen Al group, Meta has routinely assessed all competing models throughout the development process.

Additionally, Meta said last week that it will invest up to $65 billion in AI initiatives over the course of the following year. The investment involves growing its AI staff and building a huge new data center.
