Chinese official sources claim multiple government websites in Macau compromised

Following the hacking of many government websites in Macau, Chinese state sources reported late on Wednesday that investigators had launched a criminal investigation to determine the cause of the crime.

Chinese state media claimed late on Wednesday that government authorities had opened a criminal inquiry to find the source of the crime after several government websites in Macau were hacked.

The government of the Macau Special Administrative Region’s security officials reported on Wednesday night that multiple websites, including those of the public security police, the fire services department, the office of the secretary for security, and the security forces services bureau, had been compromised, resulting in service disruptions. According to government officials, the intrusion originated abroad, as reported by CCTV. There were no more specifics or details available right away. As per the report, authorities collaborated with communications carriers to execute an emergency reaction aimed at expeditiously restoring the compromised services.
