Elon Musk, the millionaire owner of SpaceX, is scheduled to launch his satellite company, Starlink, this Sunday in Indonesia, according to two cabinet members.
Two cabinet members have stated that SpaceX’s owner, billionaire Elon Musk, will travel to Indonesia this Sunday to launch his satellite company, Starlink.
President Joko Widodo’s close supporter, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, claimed Musk would introduce the service to the Indonesian president on the vacation island of Bali.
Although Musk’s visit would be his first in-person visit, Indonesian officials have previously stated that he will travel to the nation to attend events or discuss potential investments by his vehicle company, Tesla (TSLA.O).
He has previously delivered a video speech at an Indonesian convention.
Additionally, Musk is expected to give a speech at the World Water Forum in Bali, according to a statement released by Luhut on Wednesday.
According to Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, on Thursday, the Starlink debut would take place at a clinic in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, where Musk was supposed to sign a contract on connectivity for the healthcare industry.
For confirmation of Musk’s visit, Starlink’s Indonesian agents could not be contacted right away, and the company did not answer an email sent outside of US business hours.
According to Budi, Starlink obtained a license earlier this month to provide its internet services for retail customers in Indonesia, as reported last week.
Indonesia anticipates that Starlink will engage with regional network access providers to deliver internet services to its distant regions.
