His new role as CIO will include simplifying, standardizing, and modernizing Nike’s platforms, developer experience, cloud, information security, and technology operations.

Cheryan Jacob has been named as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Nike, the US sportswear company. Nike created this position this month to help its global technical team.

Having begun his career as a computer architecture and hardware engineer in India, Jacob has training in both technology and business. He began working as a research assistant in biostatistics and data modelling at the American University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2004.

With more than eight years of expertise, Jacob worked, among other things, as a network support specialist for the multinational IT giant Microsoft. Prior to that, he held the position of chief technology officer at a private investment firm in Dallas, Texas, that was considered “stealth”—a corporation that has not yet gone public.

His new role as CIO will include “simplifying, standardizing, and modernizing Nike’s platforms, developer experience, cloud, information security, and technology operations,” according to his LinkedIn page.
