Nokia appoints Tarun Chhabra as new India Head

“Malik has decided to retire from Nokia effective March 31, 2024. He will transfer the role to Tarun during this period,” the company said.

In an organizational restructuring, Tarun Chhabra, senior vice president and head of Nokia’s mobile networks, has been named the company’s new India Head.

With effect from April 2024, Chhabra has assumed leadership of the India market, the company announced in a statement.

“Malik has decided to retire from Nokia effective March 31, 2024. He will transfer the role to Tarun during this period,” the company said.

Sanjay Malik, the previous senior vice president, is succeeded by Chhabra.

Malik’s employment with the organization will last until March 31, 2024. He oversaw the operations of the Indian market for nearly eight years while working in the global customer experience or sales vertical in India.

Malik answered to Nokia’s chief customer experience officer, Rick Corker. The modifications that Nokia has revealed are in line with its October announcement last year regarding its global restructuring plan.

The corporation plans to eliminate between 11,000 and 14,000 jobs globally as part of this plan.

Nokia announced its operational and strategic adjustments, as well as a campaign to reset its cost base, on October 19, 2023.

Positioning the business for long-term growth and assisting it in navigating the current market volatility are the objectives of these adjustments. Nokia and the international smartphone brand OPPO inked a 5G patent cross-license agreement last month that includes the company’s core innovations in cellular technologies.
