The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) alerted users on Monday to several Chrome-based Microsoft Edge vulnerabilities that might allow an attacker to compromise the targeted system.
Prior to 125.0.2535.85, Microsoft Edge stable versions were among the impacted software versions. “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Microsoft Edge (chromium-based), which could allow an attacker to compromise the targeted system,” stated the advisory from CERT-In. These vulnerabilities are attributed to ‘out of limits’ memory access in keyboard inputs; out of bounds write in streams API; heap buffer overflow in WebRTC; use after free in dawn, media session, and presentation API, according to the cyber agency, and they exist in Microsoft Edge (which is based on Chromium).
Users were instructed by Cert-In to implement the relevant security upgrades as indicated by the business. In the meantime, the cyber agency alerted users to a number of vulnerabilities in Android that might provide an attacker access to private data, elevate their privileges, and induce a denial-of-service (DoS) assault on the machine they are targeting.
The advisory states that these vulnerabilities are caused by defects in the system, framework, Google Play system updates, kernel, arm, MediaTek, Imagination Technologies, and Qualcomm closed-source compiler.
