Ellen Ochoa, a former director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center and the first Latina astronaut in space, has joined NVIDIA’s board of directors. The creator and CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang, hailed Ochoa’s innovative career, referring to her as “a trailblazer and leader” whose perspectives will help NVIDIA’s mission to advance computing and Al.
With a Master’s and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s in Physics from San Diego State University, Ochoa, 66, brings a strong academic and professional background to the position. In addition to her new position at NVIDIA, she is a member of the boards of Mutual of America Financial Group, where she contributes to the marketing, product, and nominations committees, and Service Corporation International, where she leads the remuneration committee.
NVIDIA’s board now has 13 members after Ochoa was appointed, strengthening the organization’s governance as it maintains its position as a leader in technological innovation.
