Nvidia and Indosat aim to invest $200 million in an artificial intelligence hub in Central Java by 2024, according to the Indonesian government’s communication minister.
Nvidia and Indonesian telecommunications company PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison intend to create a $200 million artificial intelligence center in Central Java by 2024, according to the communication minister.
Budi Arie Setiadi stated in a statement that the AI center will be placed in Surakarta and could include telecommunications infrastructure or a human resource center.
Indosat’s CEO informed Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is also Indonesia’s vice president-elect and the son of current President Joko Widodo, about the investment proposal.
“Why in Surakarta?” “Because they are prepared, have good human resources, and have 5G infrastructure,” he explained.
Indosat is committed to becoming Indonesia’s pioneer in AI development, according to spokesperson Steve Saerang in a statement released on Friday.
“Our main focus right now is to establish an AI center of excellence in Surakarta,” he added, adding that such a partnership will help Indonesia strengthen its digital infrastructure.
