Ocado aims to establish a third robotic warehouse as part of its partnerships with Aeon

The British online grocery and technology company Ocado declared that it has expanded its partnership with the Japanese company Aeon and that it plans to build a third robotic warehouse.

Ocado (OCDO.L), a British online supermarket and technology group, announced on Monday that it has strengthened its collaboration with Aeon (8267.T), a Japanese company, and that it has ambitions to construct a third robotic warehouse. Set to open in 2027, the third customer fulfillment center (CFC) will be located in Kuki-Miyashiro, in the Saitama prefecture of Japan, according to Ocado. Ocado is benefiting from the partnership’s expansion after reporting last month that its Canadian retail partner Sobeys had postponed the inauguration of a fourth robotic warehouse, which caused a decline in the company’s stock price.

In 2019, Ocado and Aeon formed an exclusive relationship. Last year, Chiba City saw the opening of its first CFC, catering to clients in the Kanto area. In 2026, a second based in Hachioji is scheduled to open. As part of the cooperation, Aeon will enhance its live operations with the newest Ocado technologies, including “On-Grid Robotic Pick,” in addition to expanding its network. According to Ocado, this will boost Aeon’s operations’ labor productivity.
