Oracle and Amazon Web Services launch Database@AWS

A new service called Oracle Database@AWS, which combines AWS infrastructure with Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Exadata Database Service, was introduced by Oracle and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through the provision of a single experience across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS, this partnership seeks to simplify database maintenance. Customers can benefit from combined support, streamlined billing, and easier database administration with this new solution.

AWS services, such as Amazon EC2, AWS Analytics, and AWS AI/ML services like Amazon Bedrock, may be seamlessly connected to Oracle databases with the help of Oracle Database@AWS. The service combines the automatic database capabilities of Oracle with the flexibility, agility, and sustainability advantages of AWS to guarantee low-latency network connections. It offers strong performance, availability, and security and supports a variety of workloads, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).

On September 10, at Oracle Cloud World, Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, and Larry Ellison, Chairman and CTO of Oracle, will talk about this collaboration. With the use of solutions like Oracle Zero Downtime Migration, the integration provides customizable migration options and enables zero-ETL data transfers between Oracle and AWS Analytics services. Through the AWS Marketplace, customers can purchase Oracle services by utilizing their current licenses and AWS commitments.

Additionally, the new service is integrated with Amazon S3 for disaster recovery and secure data backups. Using the AWS Management Console, CLI, or CloudFormation, customers may take advantage of AWS’s multi-Availability Zone design for high availability while managing their Oracle Database@AWS experience.

Later this year, the service will go into preview, and by 2025, it will be widely accessible.

Prominent industry players such as Vodafone, State Street, Best Buy, and Fidelity Investments have all voiced their excitement about the integration, emphasizing its ability to boost security, encourage innovation, and simplify operations.

Oracle Database@AWS is expected to provide a seamless cloud experience, allowing users from a range of industries to take advantage of AWS’s and Oracle’s complementary strengths.
