State PWD Minister Ravindra Chavhan stated that in an effort to improve citizen welfare, his department is depending more and more on technology. On Sunday, in observance of Engineer’s Day, the minister delivered a speech at an awards ceremony hosted by his department in Nagpur.
Sunday’s PWD-organized state-level Outstanding Engineer Award 2023–24 ceremony saw the Ambhora bridge across the Wainganga river win the PWD award in the “best bridge” category.
Chavhan said, “It is extremely important to identify flaws and implement solutions. The key is proper planning and being creative with out-of-the-box thinking while performing duties as an engineer. The department is working towards project management and delivering benefits to society, striving to bring 100% transparency through the proper use of technology.”
The minister also praised Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who had held the state PWD portfolio in the 90s. “Gadkari Saheb is the infrastructure man, and he has achieved amazing results through PWD.”
Stressing the role of engineers, Chavhan said, “Engineers in PWD are responsible for creating the necessary infrastructure for the nation’s supreme glory. The entire country’s responsibility rests on your shoulders, making this department a significant force in nation-building.”
Manisha Patankar-Mhaiskar said, “PWD’s contribution would be significant in fulfilling the dream of a developed India during the country’s Amrit Kaal.”
While Sanjay Dashpute, secretary (buildings), PWD, stated that Sunday’s ceremony will motivate the 1,500 recently hired engineers in the department to work with determination, Sadashiv Salunkhe, secretary (roads), PWD, thanked the award-winning engineers and staff and expressed optimism.
