On Friday, Foxconn chairman Young Liu and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi met to talk about the future of technology innovation in India and throughout the world.

“It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Young Liu, Chairman of Foxconn, earlier today. We had an engaging conversation on the future of technological innovation in India and the world,” Gandhi said in a post on X.

“With the right support, India’s tech industry can be positioned for a significant leap forward,” the former Congress chief said.

On the eve of this year’s 75th Republic Day, Liu, who is in India, received the third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.

Foxconn, which manufactures Apple iPhones under contract in India, is thought to employ more than 40,000 people. The corporation is expected to have invested between $9 and $10 billion in India overall.

The company is currently building an electric car manufacturing unit, an Apple AirPods plant, a chip plant in a joint venture with HCL Group, and an expansion of its iPhone production facility.
