The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), a program of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to combat cybercrime in the nation, announced actor Rashmika Mandanna as its national brand ambassador on Tuesday.
Deep Fake video
The performer, who has starred in films like Animal, Dear Comrade, and Pushpa: The Rise, made headlines earlier this year when a deepfake video of her went viral on social media.
Rashmika Mandanna, who has experienced the effects of cybercrime, stated that “stricter measures to protect our online world” are necessary.
“Let’s unite to build a safer cyberspace for ourselves and future generations. I want to bring awareness and protect as many of you as possible from cybercrimes as I take on the role of brand ambassador for I4C. Let me and the Government of India help you,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
I4C’s National Brand Ambassador
With 44.2 million Instagram followers and 4.9 million X followers, the actor encouraged people to report cybercrimes by phoning 1930 or going to the cybercrime.gov.in website.
Rashmika Mandanna was made the national brand ambassador of I4C by Cyber Dost, the MHA’s cyber-safety and cybersecurity awareness handle.
“Excited to onboard the pan-India star @iamRashmika as I4C’s National Brand Ambassador. We are joining forces to fortify India’s digital landscape; we’ll tackle cybercrimes head-on,” read a post on X.
The MHA established the I4C to give law enforcement agencies (LEAs) a framework and ecosystem for addressing cybercrime in a coordinated and all-encompassing way.
Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film, Pushpa: The Rule, is scheduled for release on December 6.
