Reliance Jio has alerted users about attempts at cyber fraud. Fraudsters assume the identity of Jio employees and use calls, texts, emails, or WhatsApp to obtain private information.
Reliance Jio, owned by Mukesh Ambani, has sent out a warning to its users. The telecom company has released a warning regarding the methods used by scammers to deceive unwary users into falling victim to cyber crime. “Your security is always our top priority at Jio. The organization posted a warning saying, “Recently, we have observed cases of cyber fraud where scammers pose as representatives of your service providers and seek sensitive information.”
Along with safety advice, the service provider has also disclosed information regarding how scammers deceive users. How the con operates • There are a number of ways scammers might contact you, such as emails, WhatsApp chats, SMS messages, and phone calls. • Sensitive information such as your PAN card number, Aadhaar details, bank account information, credit card details, OTPs, or SIM number is frequently requested by scammers. When they threaten to stop providing you with services if you don’t comply with their requests, scammers may instill a sense of urgency. You can be asked to download and install third-party programs by scammers, which would allow them access to your computer or phone as well as your personal data.
Important: You won’t ever be asked to download third-party apps from Reliance Jio. This kind of request is most likely fraudulent. “Never will Jio ask you to click on unidentified links that open outside of the Jio.com or MyJio app in any email, SMS, or call.” The business stated, “If in doubt, we advise you to access the MyJio app and look up pertinent information.” How to avoid falling victim to internet scams • Refrain from opening dubious links or attachments, and don’t reply to unwanted calls, emails, or texts requesting personal information. • Apps that provide remote phone access might be used by scammers to obtain your personal data. Get rid of these apps.
Keep your 20-digit SIM number to yourself. Your SIM card has printing on the back with this information. • To safeguard your information, create special PINs and passwords for your online and app accounts and update them frequently. • Frequently review your credit card and bank statements to look for any odd behavior. As soon as you notice any questionable transactions, notify your bank. • Update the software on your device, and don’t share it with anyone. This will assist in preventing unauthorized access to your information.
