As per a memo released on Tuesday, CDK Global has expressed doubts about the resolution of the ongoing disruption in its dealer management software, which is used by dealers across the country, due to a hack, before the end of the month.
According to a memo on Tuesday, CDK Global does not anticipate that the ongoing disruption in its dealer management software, which is utilized by dealers nationwide, caused by a cyberattack will be resolved by the end of the month. The email that CDK sent to dealers revealed that the software and technology provider for the auto industry would not be able to bring all dealers operational before June 30 and has requested that they come up with other alternatives for their month-end financial closure procedures. In the US, more than 15,000 retail establishments use CDK’s software.
Brian MacDonald, CEO of CDK, stated he was speaking with “many dealers, OEMs, and partners directly” in an interview. “Working around the clock with leading third-party experts to get dealers back to business as usual and as quickly as possible,” the report said of CDK’s mission.
Some US car dealers have been forced to return to manual documentation because of the ongoing CDK downtime. A person familiar with the situation estimates that it has affected roughly 60% of Audi dealers and about half of Volkswagen dealers in the US. Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai declared that they were keeping an eye on things to determine how the outage was affecting them. Honda further stated that in order to enable dealers impacted by the outage to carry on with business as usual, it has instructed them to utilize alternative tools and procedures in the event that CDK systems are unavailable.
