The hiring of Ruma Balasubramanian as President for the Asia Pacific & Japan (APAC) region is announced by Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. Sharat Sinha, who departed earlier this year to take on a new position in the sector, is succeeded by Ruma. With close collaboration with the sales, marketing, product engineering, and customer success teams, she will oversee Check Point’s whole APAC business. Ruma is poised to propel Check Point’s expansion through strategic alliances and cutting-edge, AI-powered security products thanks to her vast experience in the cloud and digital transformation.
Ruma has extensive experience scaling technological solutions and promoting market expansion from her previous positions as Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer for Cisco’s Asia Pacific, Japan, and Greater China business, as well as her most recent leadership roles at Google Cloud, where she oversaw high-growth segments throughout APAC. Her international experience includes important positions at IBM, AT Kearney, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services. As a result, she is well-positioned to promote Check Point’s objective of providing innovative cyber security solutions that are customized to meet the varied demands of APAC. Ruma has a strong commitment to empowering women in technology and creating inclusive teams. She chairs the Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Committee of RightShip, a digital maritime platform with an ESG focus, where she is an independent director.
“I’m thrilled to join Check Point at this critical time,” said Ruma Balasubramanian. “As cyber threats become more sophisticated, it’s crucial for organizations to partner with a cyber security leader that enables them to securely scale through AI, data, and the cloud. Check Point’s prevention-first approach and 3Cs framework—comprehensive, collaborative, and consolidated security—demonstrate our commitment to innovation and trust.”
Sherif Seddik, President of International Sales, noted, “We are excited to welcome Ruma to our management team. Her experience in customer transformation and partner development makes her the ideal leader for our growing business in APAC as cyber security demand continues to expand. We are appreciative of Sharat’s contributions to our APAC business and wish him the best. We look forward to Ruma taking us to our next level of growth.”
