Sandeep Dutta has been named the new President of AWS India and South Asia by Amazon Web Services (AWS). He worked in a variety of roles at Accenture for more than 16 years, most recently as the Senior Managing Director and India Business Lead.

The news of Dutta’s appointment was shared by Jaime Valles, Vice President of AWS, via his LinkedIn account. He wrote, “Sandeep’s arrival marks an important milestone in our journey to empower businesses, governments, and communities throughout the subcontinent to realize their full digital potential.”

Valles went on to discuss how AWS is making investments in India’s future prospects. He disclosed that by 2030, AWS plans to invest INR 1,05,600 crore (USD $12.7 billion), which is anticipated to support approximately 131,700 full-time equivalent jobs yearly and add INR 1,94,700 crore (USD $23.3 billion) to India’s GDP.

The aforementioned is on top of the current cloud infrastructure, which has already supported over 39,500 jobs and added over INR 30,900 crore (USD $3.7 billion) to India’s GDP.

He also said that AWS has invested in 50 renewable energy projects throughout India as part of its commitment to the sustainability of the nation’s digital future. Together, these projects will be able to produce more than 1.1 gigawatts of renewable energy, which will power both AWS operations and help India meet its green energy targets.
