The report, dated August 2, highlights high-risk security flaws in a number of Apple products, including Macs, iPads, iPhones, and more.
A serious warning about serious vulnerabilities in Apple products has been released by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). The August 2 advisory highlights high-risk security flaws in a number of Apple products, including Macs, iPads, iPhones, and other devices. The flaws impact multiple Apple software versions: Versions of iOS and iPadOS earlier than 17.6 and 16.7.9 macOS: Versions 12.7.6 (Monterey), 13.6.8 (Ventura), and earlier than 14.6 (Sonoma) watchOS: Previous versions before 10.6 versions of tvOS earlier than 17.6 versions of visionOS antecedent to 1.3 versions of Safari earlier than 17.6. As CERT-In has pointed out, these flaws could provide hackers access to private data and the ability to arbitrary code, get around security measures, launch spoofing attacks, and inflict denial of service (DoS) attacks.
The advice rates the seriousness of these errors as “high.” In order to fix these vulnerabilities and reduce potential dangers, CERT-In strongly advises all Apple customers to install the most recent software updates as soon as possible. The advice emphasizes how serious these security vulnerabilities are and how urgent action is required to defend against potential attacks.
Apart from the vulnerabilities, Apple has also issued a warning to customers regarding possible “mercenary spyware attacks,” which are similar to the Pegasus spyware. These notifications are meant to notify consumers of sophisticated spyware threats that target iPhones, and they have been delivered to users in over 150 countries, including India.Prominent individuals, such as Pushparaj Deshpande, the founder of the Samruddha Bharat Foundation, and Iltija Mufti, the media advisor and daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, have claimed to have received these threats.
Apple and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have not yet replied to questions about these problems. CERT-In urges users to stay current on the most recent security upgrades while it keeps an eye on the issue. The alert from the federal government highlights how dangerous these vulnerabilities are and recommends people safeguard their devices right away.
