Sir Gangaram Hospital successfully treats blood clot in 28-year-old using AI-powered device

A novel AI-powered device helped cure a 28-year-old man who had a blood clot in his leg and was experiencing acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PE).

One type of pulmonary embolism (PE) that can cause irreversible damage is pulmonary thromboembolism, which is a blood clot that travels through the bloodstream and lodges in the lungs. According to medical professionals, one of the most serious side effects of blood clots is PE. When a clot gets to the lungs, it can stop blood flow, which can cause serious harm or even death.

The patient was treated by Dr. VS Bedi, the chairman of vascular surgery at Sir Gangaram Hospital, who used a tool made to remove blood clots with amazing precision.

“The AI in the machine helps it target only the clots, avoiding sucking of normal blood and reducing the risks of severe blood loss causing hypotension and other complications associated with older methods,” he explained.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism have historically been treated with substantial risks attached. These therapies frequently include operations that can result in bleeding and the need for recurrent interventions.

The patient complained of breathing difficulties, swelling in the left leg, and chest pain that had persisted for three days when they arrived at the hospital. The patient came to Sir Gangaram Hospital after trying unsuccessfully to receive treatment at other facilities.

The AI-powered equipment was used to perform thrombosuction on the patient as soon as they arrived. This procedure works like a vacuum cleaner, removing all blood clots with the least amount of blood loss.

This method avoids the requirement for thrombolytic drug infusion and inferior vena cava (IVC) filter installation, both of which can have harmful side effects such as internal bleeding in the intestines and brain and other bleeding diseases.
