Rai will spearhead Snowflake’s business expansion in India, overseeing strategy, sales, and execution.
Vijayant Rai has been appointed by the data cloud company Snowflake as its new managing director for India, responsible for driving growth and go-to-market strategy, succeeding Vimal Venkatram, who has moved to a regional role within Snowflake based in Singapore.
Before this, he was the executive director for Microsoft India and the country leader for the BFSI segment of the company.
Accelerating strategic partnerships and driving the adoption of Snowflake’s Data Cloud across sectors including CPG, manufacturing, the public sector, startups, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and BFSI, Rai will spearhead Snowflake’s business expansion in India, overseeing strategy, sales, and execution. Swiggy, Piramal Finance, Urban Company, and Porter are counted as some of its customers.
“India is a dynamic growth market that is rapidly transitioning to a data-driven economy,” said Rai. “Snowflake recently announced a slew of new features, including Snowflake Cortex, currently in private preview, that facilitates businesses with swift development of AI applications, further bolstering their commitment to driving innovation in the Indian market.” Employing a few hundred people, Snowflake has a tech center in Pune. Snowflake’s customers use the data cloud to unite siloed data, discover and securely share data, power data applications, and execute diverse AI/ML and analytic workloads.
