Softbank’s Son plans to expand US electricity business for generative AI

SB Energy, funded by SoftBank Group, creates and manages renewable electricity businesses across the US. Son added that the team will search outside of Japan for “seeds of new evolution” in terms of investments.

Founder Masayoshi Son of Japan’s SoftBank Group (9984.T)  announced on Thursday that the company will expand its power production business, mostly in the United States, to supply electricity to generative artificial intelligence projects worldwide.

SB Energy, funded by SoftBank Group, creates and manages renewable electricity businesses across the US. Son added that the team will search outside of Japan for “seeds of new evolution” in terms of investments. Speaking at the group’s telecom affiliate, SoftBank Corp. (9434.T), where he serves as a board member, he was addressing the annual shareholder meeting.
