Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, the nation’s minister of information technology and digital services, stated that it will be estimated that cyber financial scams in Tamil Nadu resulted in losses exceeding 1,100 crore between January and September of 2024.
He claimed that Tamil Nadu had implemented creative measures to bolster cyber defense, including a cybersecurity policy, during the Anti Virus Asia Researchers Association’s global cybersecurity convention. The state was utilizing automation and artificial intelligence technology to create a robust digital infrastructure. “Capacity building by establishing a cybersecurity training center to bridge the skill gap and collaborative governance by promoting partnerships with public, private, and international allies to strengthen cyber defense are the key pillars of the state’s strategies,” he added. Globally, the average cost of a data breach had risen to $5 million.
India faced 79 million cyberattacks in 2023, the 3rd highest globally, and the average cost of a breach was around $2.3 million.
