The fifth-largest IT services provider in India, Tech Mahindra (TechM), has partnered with Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai), a manufacturer of computer storage devices and electronic design, to open a development center at its Bengaluru office.

It is the first offshore development center (ODC) for engineering that USI has established in India. According to a statement from Tech Mahindra, the development center, which is housed in the company’s Bengaluru office, will spur innovation in smart device engineering.

By extending its technical capabilities to India, the facility represents a significant milestone for USI in improving hardware design, testing, and device software development.

With regard to the requirement for scalability and flexibility, quicker product launches, and access to specialized facilities and capabilities, USI hopes to capitalize on Tech Mahindra’s experience.

“This collaboration aims to provide scalable solutions, accelerate time-to-market, and deliver innovative advancements. It will leverage Tech Mahindra’s specialised talent pool and advanced labs, focusing on technologies expected to drive the future of connected devices, additive manufacturing, connected vehicles, and augmented and virtual reality,” the statement added.

“We are delighted to collaborate with USI to launch a first-of-its-kind engineering development center…We are positive that this collaboration will pave the way for device software and hardware design advancements, ultimately setting the stage for future partnerships,” said Narasimham RV, president – engineering services for TechM.
