Cybercrime DSP N Venugopal Reddy urged everyone to exercise caution in the run-up to the New Year.
According to him, cybercriminals would use the event as a chance to trick people by sending malicious links to laptops and phones.
The DSP warned the public in a news release on Sunday that scammers would use WhatsApp and other platforms to deliver dangerous links to people posing as New Year’s greetings.
He said that in addition to targeting bank accounts and payment applications, fraudsters would infiltrate phones.
