A partnership between the state government and QuantumBasel, Switzerland’s center for quantum and artificial intelligence innovation, was announced on Sunday. The establishment of a Quantum Hub in Hyderabad is expected to be the first of its kind in India.
A group from QuantumBasel, led by CEO Damir Bogdan and board member Karl Gun, met with IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu. In the presence of Nicholas Gugger, head of the India-Switzerland Parliamentary Group and a member of the Swiss National Council, a letter of intent (LOI) was signed.
The hub will concentrate on AI, quantum computing, and creative solutions for sectors including banking, medical sciences, and logistics, according to a press statement. Additionally, it will support research and startup mentorship and encourage partnerships among academic institutions, business, and entrepreneurs.
“Telangana is poised to become a global leader in quantum technologies! We’re thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between the Government of Telangana and QuantumBasel, Switzerland’s pioneering Quantum and AI hub, to establish India’s first-ever Quantum Hub in Hyderabad,” the minister posted on X.
Highlighting Telangana’s role as a pioneer in emerging technologies, Sridhar Babu added, “This Quantum Hub is a giant leap towards making our state a hub for futuristic technologies.”
Sridhar Babu announced intentions in November to organize a conference or summit for engineering students at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and to bring professors together on a same platform to increase awareness of quantum computing.
