On measures needed to accelerate growth of data centres, Trai, in its discussion paper, had noted lack of progress in creating a regulatory regime and had sought stakeholder’s views
India will be promoted as a data centre hub in a month as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will come out with a slew of recommendations in step with the Centre’s Atmanirbhar push.
To incentivise for setting up local hyper-scale data centers and boost existing ecosystem capacity, Trai, recently floated a paper promoted by the government’s decision. “India must become a leader in data centres, and data going outside the country should be prevented,” a top Trai official said. He added Trai is finalising views and will release the recommendations after a suo motu consultation with stakeholders.
