Truecaller introduces UPI-based name verification in India

Blue tick verification is now available to all Indian Premium subscribers of Truecaller. Users can validate their correct names by using the government-backed Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to verify their identification using the new Verified Badge service.

The verified badge has grown in popularity among Truecaller users over time, and many have expressed a wish for a more open and simple method of obtaining it. Truecaller has redesigned the verification process to offer a more precise and reliable solution in response to this tremendous demand.

By employing the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for external verification, the new Verified Badge feature makes sure that users’ identities are verified through dependable techniques that are also used by major financial institutions. Through this procedure, users can choose the name they wish to show based on data obtained from UPI and start the verification process themselves.

Speaking on the launch of the new feature, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer and MD, India, Truecaller, stated, “The new verified badge is a direct response to feedback from our Premium users who seek more robust and trustworthy ways to establish their identities. By integrating UPI-based verification, we’re leveraging a widely accepted and secure method to ensure that the identities on our platform are authentic and credible. This feature not only reinforces our commitment to providing top-tier services but also empowers our users to take control of their digital presence with confidence. We believe this is a significant step forward in our vision of making communication safer for everyone. This is starting in India but will roll out to other countries soon. With this launch, Truecaller could very well become one of the most trusted identifier of user profiles globally.”

Truecaller is raising the bar for digital communication trust with the Verified Badge, which offers users reliability and recognition on par with traditional IDs. This modification demonstrates Truecaller’s continued dedication to improving the dependability and security of online communications. Please be aware that only Premium customers on Android currently have access to Verified Badge. Verified badge support for iPhones will soon be available.
