Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a high-level meeting assessing the recent cyberattack that temporarily knocked down the state’s data centre. After assessing the situation, he gave the go-ahead for the personnel to finish scanning the state’s data centre and bring back all of the major websites and online services by Monday.

One kind of computer virus used to steal data is called malware.

He said, “It should be ensured that all websites start operating by Monday.”

There hasn’t been any data loss as a result of malware on virtual machines in the Information Technology Development Agency’s data centre, according to State Information Technology Secretary Nitesh Jha during the meeting.

Eleven of the 1378 machines, he claimed, had malware on them. Over the past two days, many scans have been performed on the data centre. Numerous websites have been reinstated, such as CM Helpline and e-Office.

The chief minister announced the formation of a “Cyber Security Task Force” in the state to stop such incidents from happening again.

Dhami stated that the State Data Centre’s security system should be modified with assistance from the top government agencies in India that deal with information technology.

Dhami further gave the officers instructions to evaluate the website and the “State Data Centre” for security.

He requested that a Disaster Recovery Centre be established by the officials in order to safeguard online discussion boards and retrieve department-specific online data.

He gave the officials instructions to examine the company performing technical work for the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) and instructed them to take appropriate action against the corporation in the event that any negligence was discovered.

In order to prevent such situations, Dhami urged the ITDA to make sure that every government office’s “anti-virus system” is updated.

On Wednesday, a government holiday, there was a cyberattack. A portion of the job was completed by hand because the internet system was shut down. Additional tasks, such as validating the holders of ration cards, were concluded.

An investigation into the malware attack is currently underway, according to an official.
