Final preparations are underway for the forthcoming Maha Kumbh, which is anticipated to draw 40 crore Hindus from around the globe from January 13 to February 26.
Uttar Pradesh Police has developed a plan to shield the pilgrims from online scams in accordance with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives to guarantee a “digital” and “cyber safe” Maha Kumbh.
“We have prepared a multi-dimensional strategy to fight cybercrime during the Maha Kumbh. Apart from police officers, we have also roped in cyber experts from specialised institutions like IIT-Kanpur. Acting on the complaints received, police have already arrested some cyber frauds,” Director General of Police (DGP), Prashant Kumar, said.
“We will also launch a comprehensive awareness campaign to protect the devotees from cybercrime during the event,” he added.
According to the DGP, a recent meeting of top police officers and cyber specialists at the Integrated Command and Control Center here covered a range of topics related to cybercrime.
Professors from IIT Kanpur, ADGP (cybercrime), Prayagraj police commissioner, IG (Prayagraj range), and cyber specialists were among those present at the hybrid meeting, which was chaired by Bhanu Bhaskar, Additional Director General of Police (Prayagraj Zone).
From ‘Paush Poornima’ on January 13 to ‘Mahashivratri’ on February 26, the spectacular celebration will take place over 45 days.
