Varta, a German battery manufacturer, announced that its five production units had been targeted by a cyberattack on February 12.

Varta, a German battery maker, reported late Tuesday that its five production units were targeted by a cyberattack on February 12. The extent of the damage was unknown.

Varta had to temporarily shut down the factories while the impact on IT systems was assessed, the company claimed.

The corporation has also established a task team to resume normal operations.

Varta stock fell roughly 3% on the announcement.
