Munro Farmer, the former CIO of Australia Post, has been named the new group director of IT at Vicinity Centres, a major retail center operator.
The company announced Farmer’s appointment on its official LinkedIn account, stating that he joins “at a really exciting time as we continue to explore how we use technology to add value and create meaningful places where communities connect.”
“Bringing a wealth of experience to Vicinity, Munro has done it all, from modernizing core delivery systems and enhancing customer experiences to helping businesses leverage cutting-edge tools and AI capabilities,” the company wrote.
In a quick LinkedIn post, Farmer acknowledged the position on his own.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a passionate and talented team,” he wrote. “[I] can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
The most of this year, Farmer has been working with Kodora.ai, a Melbourne-based consultant and tool developer that works on data initiatives, like Barbeques Galore.
He is more well known, though, for his previous position as Australia Post’s CIO.
It wasn’t immediately obvious who would oversee Vicinity Centres’ IT department once Ian Padgham left in February 2023 to become the CIO of Parks Victoria.
Since then, it’s unclear who has held the position of group head of technology.
For more information, the media reached out to a Vicinity Centres representative.
