A recent victim of cyber fraud in Hyderabad received a return of Rs 53 lakh from the city’s cybercrime police.

The scammers, who pretended to be CBI agents, forced the 84-year-old victim to transfer a total of Rs 2.8 crore to several bank accounts. They said the victim was involved in fraud cases and threatened to file cases against him. The victim transferred the money and was defrauded because he was afraid of being forced to deal with fictitious cases.

The cybercrime police opened an investigation and filed a case after receiving a complaint. The bank officials received notices and were contacted to freeze the false cash. Additionally, the complaint was directed to petition the court for the return of the money that was kept in the false accounts.
