Virendra Bansal has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBI Capital Markets (SBICAPS), a wholly-owned subsidiary and investment banking arm of the State Bank of India. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Bansal was the Country Head of SBI’s US Operations, which includes offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, and Washington, DC, before this promotion.
With a career spanning over 30 years with SBI, Bansal has handled several important assignments in diverse areas of credit, international banking, and retail banking.
Bansal takes over for Rajay Kumar Sinha, who was named in January 2024 as the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India’s (IRDAI) Whole-Time Member (Finance and Investment) for a three-year term.
